The annual visual feast of Art produced by students at King James’s school takes place on Thursday 7th July in the Chaloner Hall from 7pm onwards.
This year promises to be as exciting and as varied as usual with a record number of exhibitors. As well as A/S and A level Art on show there will be GCSE Art and Design, BTEC Art and design and GCSE Digital Photography. The Head of Art, Simon Crawford, said that ‘there is a huge range of work on display - large scale oil paintings, ceramic heads, prints and work using a variety of mixed media as well as more experimental work. Alongside the finished pieces of Artwork we will display sketchpads and all the preparation for projects, as this is usually the unseen hard graft underpinning the finished pieces and showing how students arrived at their final ideas. The school’s artist in residence, Eoghan Bridge, will also be showing a selection of some of his sculptures too.
There should be something for everyone to enjoy. This is a show for the whole family to come to and be proud of the achievements of sons and daughters and a lot of young people in this community’. Admission is free and there are refreshments on sale throughout the evening with musical accompaniment.
