Post Goodwood & waiting for new rules

Green car activities have been put on the back burner a little bit at the moment. The car is exactly the same as it was unloaded from the bus after the Goodwood final. One of the reasons is we were waiting for the new rules to be published. As always these seem to affect us massively! The main thing will be fitting a pair of brakes instead of the current single item. We have also decided that we really need to build a new chassis as the current one has many modifications, mainly from previous rule changes! We can use the existing chassis as a guide to do this but get rid of all surplus parts which should lessen the weight of the car as well as be stiffer and less compromised.

We are currently fundraising and have produced a short video of the car racing at Croft to send off to potential sponsors; it is available on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2HMErWzp8Q. If we can raise enough sponsorship we are considering building a second car and we have some fantastic ideas for this. If you are interested in helping us or know someone who may like to sponsor us please contact Steve Hutchinson on 01423 866061 or kjsgreencar@googlemail.com. Any help great or small would be very much appreciated and we would give any sponsors maximum publicity!

We are looking forward to a trip to Leeds University’s Department of Engineering to have a look at the Formula Student cars that the department builds. Hopefully this will give us some ideas for our own cars.
