It is important in a large
school that students are cared for in a personal way.
Our curriculum is designed
to personalise their learning experience and our pastoral
wellbeing.

|
Each student is given an identity - as part
of a year group, a tutor group, and member of a House.
Student
Services Reception provides a focal point for all student-related
matters. |
|
Our Student Services Team offers further support through Career
Guidance, a Counsellor and Education Social Worker.
Medical Arrangements
KJS also has two School
Nurses who are fully qualified to attend to students
who may require medical attention during the course
of the school day.
|
KJS has received guidance
and forms from North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) regarding
'Managing Medicines in School'.
We are now advised by NYCC to administer
prescription only medications that are provided in the original
dispensed containers.
If your child needs to be given medication,
parents must now complete a Parental
agreement for school to administer medicine form (see
Downloads column). Only on receipt of a completed form will
the school nurse be able to administer medication.
If your child carries an inhaler or epipen
in school, parents now need to complete a Request
for child to carry his/her own medicine form (see Downloads
column) and return it to the school nurse. Additionally, in case students inhalers are lost/have run out or epipens have been forgotten/lost, parents should ensure that the school nurse is provided with a spare prescribed inhaler in its original dispensed box or a spare prescribed epipen in its original dispensed box.
The school takes no responsibility for children carrying
or taking any other medication without prior permission,
unless it is part of their medical care plan held at school.
