It is King James’s policy to enter all students for public examinations in the courses they have been following. In exceptional circumstances, such as failure to complete coursework or controlled assessment, we may withdraw a student’s entry for examination.
At Key Stage 4, the school may recommend that a student repeats an examination. The school will meet the cost of this ‘re-sit’. Where a student requests to re-sit an examination against the advice of his/her subject teachers, the cost of this examination entry, including associated administration costs, will be met by the candidate at the time of entry.
Costs of entry for re-sit examinations or units for Sixth Form students (except those following a formal course of tuition leading directly to a repeat examination), including associated administration costs, will be met by the candidate at the time of entry.
Parents are advised that any requests for student absence during internal and external examination periods will not be authorised.
Provisional timetables for GCSEs and A/AS levels are usually available 12 to 15 months ahead of each exam season. These are subject to change. Final versions are then published on-line six to nine months before the start of the first exam. The final version may occasionally be updated.
The latest information about timetables for external examinations can be found on the official exam board websites:
