The Library is a comfortable, welcoming and stimulating environment that provides high-quality resources to support teaching and learning across the curriculum.
All students and staff are automatically members of the Library and have access to a wide range of books, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, online resources and ICT facilities. The Library is staffed by a professionally qualified Chartered Librarian and a Library Assistant who support the development of independent learning and actively promote reading for pleasure.
Whole school literacy is further enhanced and developed through a variety of initiatives which include the International Kids´ Lit Quiz competition, author visits, book fairs, reading groups that shadow a selection of children´s book awards and a specialist reading programme, Accelerated Reader.
The Library’s motto is ‘Inform – Inspire – Achieve’ and we want to equip every student at King James’s with the necessary lifelong learning skills to become confident and successful individuals.
King James´s School Library is now a Rennaisance Partner School. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to contribute to research and development at Rennaisance and raise the profile of our wonderful school.
Students and staff are welcome to use the Library every school day from 8.30a.m. until 4.00p.m. (3.30p.m. on Fridays) for both collaborative and independent study. Members of staff also provide a programme of after-school study skills and homework support.
If you require any further information, please contact our Librarian, Mrs Bryden, by emailing library@king-james.n-yorks.sch.uk.
